GRANDMA'S BUTTERSCOTCH PIE image

Yield 1 Pie

Number Of Ingredients 6

3/4 cup (firmly packed) brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
4 egg yolks (save whites if you are making meringue)
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tablespoons soft butter

Steps:

  • mix 1/2 of the brown sugar, corn starch and salt in pan stir milk into slightly beaten egg yolks stir this mixture into dry ingredients cook until thickened and add 1 tablespoon butter and vanilla (set aside) take the remaining brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of butter and carmelize stir this into the thickened filling and pour into baked crust.
