GOAT CHEESE AND PEAR TARTINES image

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 cup walnuts, toasted, finely chopped
6 1/4- to 1/2-inch-thick slices country bread (5X3 1/2 inches)
2 Comice or Anjou pears, peeled, quartered, cored, sliced
6 ounces soft fresh goat cheese (such as Montrachet), crumbled

Steps:

  • Preheat broiler. Mix butter and walnuts in small bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Spread walnut butter over bread slices, dividing equally. Top with pear slices. Sprinkle with goat cheese. Broil until hot and bubbly, about 2 minutes. Transfer to plates and serve.
