Garlic Ice Cream image

Is there really garlic in the ice cream? You bet there is, but just the right amount to make it the most stinkingly good and likely the most unusual dessert you've ever had. It's really cool and creamy too. source unknown

Number Of Ingredients 6

- 3 cups whole milk
- 1/4 tsp. freshly chopped garlic
- 1 vanilla bean, split in half
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 9 egg yolks

Steps:

  • Put milk, garlic and vanilla in pan. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. In mixing bowl, blend cream, sugar and egg yolks.
  • Strain scalded milk mixture into the egg and sugar mixture, stirring constantly.
  • Return the combined mixture to the pan and stir continuously over moderate heat til it coats the back of a spoon, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Cool in an ice bath. Freeze til firm.
