FUDGE RIBBON CAKE (MARIA BARTFAI) image

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 tblsp. butter
8 oz. cream cheese
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 tblsp. cornstarch
3 eggs
2 tblsp. + 1 1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
10 tblsp. cocoa and 5 tblsp. butter

Steps:

  • Cream 2 tblsp. butter with cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch. Add 1 egg, 2 tblsp. milk and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Beat at high speed till smooth and creamy. Grease & flour 13 x 9 pan. Combine flour with 2 cups sugar, salt, baking powder and soda in large bowl. Add 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup milk. Beat well. Beat 1 1/2 minutes Add 1/3 cup milk, 2 eggs, cocoa and butter and 1 tsp. vanilla. Continue beating at low speed. Spread 1/2 batter in pan. Spoon cheese mixture over batter, spreading carefully to cover. Top with remaining batter. Spread to cover. Bake at 350 Deg. for 60 minutes. Cool and Frost. Frosting: 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup butter 6 oz. (1 cup) semi sweet chocolate chips 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 cups icing sugar. Combine milk and butter in saucepan - bring to boil. Remove from heat. Blend in chocolate chips. Stir in vanilla and icing sugar. Beat till spreading consistency.
