Fresh Passion-Fruit Caipirinha image

This tropical cocktail pairs freshly squeezed passion fruit juice with the cachaca, a clear, rum-like liquor distilled from fermented sugarcane juice. This recipe is one of designer Francisco Costa's favorite drinks -- be sure to also try his Ginger Caipirinha.

Yield Makes 1 cocktail

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 medium passion fruit
2 tablespoons sugar
Crushed ice
2 ounces cachaca
Sugar cane stick, for garnish

Steps:

  • Scoop out flesh and seeds of passion fruit and transfer to a mixing glass or cocktail shaker along with sugar, and cachaca.
  • Shake over ice and pour into an 8-ounce glass. Garnish with sugar cane stick.
