French Taco Salad image

I love taco salad. I have put a different spin on it and I can't eat it any other way now. I use Frito's or generic corn chips instead of tortilla chips , I also use cumin instead of taco seasoning because I like the taste better and it is not as salty as the taco seasoning in a pkg. For topping instead of using taco sauce or salsa I use French dressing for a unique and different taste. This recipe is different, simple and delicious. Hope you love it too

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 pound(s) ground beef
1 lg can(s) refried beans
2-3 tablespoon(s) cumin
1-2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
dash(es) salt
dash(es) pepper
1-2 large tomatoes
1 package(s) shredded lettuce
1 large sweet onion
1 package(s) frito's or generic corn chips
1 package(s) shredded taco cheese
1 bottle(s) french dressing
1 scoop(s) sour cream if desired

Steps:

  • Put ground beef into large skillet and add salt pepper, garlic powder, and cumin, add more or less cumin to taste, I use this instead of taco seasoning because there is less salt in it, and it tastes fresher to me. brown on medium until done, drain off grease. Add the can of re fried beans and turn down on low. While meat is cooking start chopping vegetables.
  • Chop onion, tomato. put into bowls, open shredded lettuce, cheese, Frito's. and sour cream if desired, I leave it out.
  • When everything is prepared, put handful of Frito's onto plate, put meat mixture on top of that, sprinkle shredded cheese on next, then tomato, onion lettuce, and top with French dressing. Enjoy.
