Flavored Rice image

Sweet Rice in India is generally cooked with Jaggery. This recipe replaces jaggery with fruit Juice to create one's own flavors.

Steps:

  • Soak Rice in water 30 minutes
  • Melt Butter in Pan. Pour Rice and one and a half cup water in Pan
  • Add Juice
  • Add Whole Black Pepper, Cloves, Raisins, Cashew Halves
  • Cook on medium heat till almost all liquid evaporates
  • Cover Lid to let steam fully tenderize rice
  • Decorate Rice with some additional Raisins
  • Serve Warm. To get extra zing - For Indian Taste serve with Pickle (Mango, Lemon, Green Chilly) For European Taste Sprinkle favorite alcohol on rice
  • Note: For Dehradoon Basmati Rice generally two and a half to three cups of water & Juice mix is used. Different varieties of rice and different juices (depending on the juice thickness) will require different amount of liquid. For Guava Juice e.g. total 3 cups of liquid is needed. While for Pomegranate Juice two and a half cup is adequate. If trying another juice first heat a small quantity to check if it retains its flavor and taste.
