FIVE SPICES SHOYU CHICKEN image

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 to 4 lbs. chicken
1/2 cup shoyu
1/2 cup water
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. oyster sauce
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 inch piece fresh ginger, grated
dash of 5 spices

Steps:

  • Bring to a boil all ingredients (except chicken). Add chicken to mixture and bring to a boil again. Lower heat and simmer 40 to 45 minutes, or until chicken is tender. Serving Suggestion: Parboil 3 cups of Chinese cabbage cut into 1 1/2 inch lengths. Drain and place on a serving platter. Place cooked chicken on Chinese cabbage. Add 3 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 3 tablespoons water to sauce to thicken. Pour over chicken and garnish with Chinese parsley.
