EMPANADA image

Number Of Ingredients 16

4 & 1/2 cups all purpose flour
tsp salt
1 cup cold water
1/2 warm water
2 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1/4 olive oil
Filling:
4 big onions
1 can olives
3 peppers any color
3 or 4 cans of albacore tuna
tsp saffron
tsp turmeric
Garlic powder
salt

Steps:

  • In a large bowl add 4 & 1/2 cups of flour and a tsp of salt mix. Add 1 cup of cold water and mix. In a cup add 1/2 warm water and 2 tsp of yeast and 1 tsp of sugar and 2 tbsp Flour and mix and let rise for 2 minutes. add mixture to flour and mix with your hands till it is soft. Add 1/4 cup oil in the center and mix well. At the bottom of the bowl add a bit of flour and make a ball. Put some flour to cote the top and cover with a cloth and put in a warm place or a turned off oven. let sit 2 hours. Cut dough in half, roll out in small amount of flour. Put on oiled pan. Put in the filling and add the other half of the dough. Role the sides up. Make 3 small holes on the top and spread a bit of oil or egg on top so it will brown. Pre heat oven at 450, cook 30 minutes or so. In a sauce pan add onions to oil and cook till they are transparent then add peppers then all other ingredients.
