Easy Boiled Dinner image

I love a new england boiled dinner! I don't always have the time to wait for the corned beef to simmer to get the nice tender flavor I like.I decided to try this short-cut with all the same flavors and it worked.

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

10 saugy hot dogs, cut up
1 lb brussel sprouts, fresh or bag of frozen
1 onion, cut in four pieces
8-10 small baby carrots or a 14 oz. can, or 1/2 bag frozen
2 can(s) (14 oz)small white potatoes,or 6 peeled potatoes,cut in 4's
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt and pepper, each

Steps:

  • 1. Clean brussel sprouts if fresh and cut in half.Start a pot of water and place sprouts and cut-up hot dogs, onion, carrots(if fresh or frozen), and bring to a boil. If using fresh potatoes, add them as well.If using canned potatoes and carrots, add after fifteen minute of boiling other ingredients so they get heated but not mushy.Add seasonings. Cook until vegetables are to your liking.I Like to top with a tablespoon of olive oil but can be omitted.Serve with mustard if preferred.
  • 2. If a tastier broth is desired, you could use a can of beer or chicken broth or a package of Ham seasoning.
