Duwanna's Peanut Brittle...my Mom image

My Mom made her peanut brittle every year for family and friends. I loved her brittle...I wish she was still with us to make it again. Duwanna passed away on Sept. 1st 1989...she will always be missed. I love you Mom!!!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 c white sugar
1 c raw peanuts
1/2 c white syrup (corn syrup)
1 pinch salt
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp pure vanilla
1 tsp baking soda

Steps:

  • 1. Combine first 4 ingredients together in a 2qt. heavy-glass (corning) bowl on the stove. Stir, cook on high for 7 to 8 minutes, then add 1-Tablespoon of butter and 1-teaspoon of vanilla, while still stirring.
  • 2. Cook 2 more minutes on high (while still stirring), then remove and add 1-teaspoon of baking soda. Beat a minute, pour out onto cookie sheet (or marble serface), leave until cooled. When cooled break apart into different size pieces and ENJOY!!!
