CRUSTY MACARONI AND CHEESE image

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb. elbow macaroni
12 oz. extra-sharp cheddar cheese, grated
12 oz. American or cheddar cheese, grated
1/3 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional)
salt
2/3 cup whole milk
2 Tbsp. butter, melted

Steps:

  • Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions. Set aside. Combine cheeses; set aside 2 heaping cups (for topping). In a large bowl, mix remaining cheese, pasta, cayenne, and salt to taste. Place in greased 9x13 pan and pour milk evenly over surface. Top with remaining cheese, brush with butter. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes at 375. Increase temperature to 400 and bake for 15 minutes more.
