Crock Pot Herbed Spaghetti Sauce image

I throw all this in the slow cooker and let it go a few hours and serve with any pasta I happen to have on hand! I've gotten to where this is about all I cook for pasta. Its so much better than any brand of jarred sauce out there and I would bet its better for you anyway! Gustare!

1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb bulk pork sausage
1 onion,
5 clove garlic, minced
3 can(s) (15 oz,) tomato sauce
1 can(s) (15 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 can(s) (6 oz.) tomato paste
1/2 c water
1 can(s) (6 oz.) mushrooms, sliced
1/4 c fresh parsley, chopped (sub 1 tbsp. dried)
1/4 c fresh basil (sub 1 tbsp.dried)
1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 bay leaf
hot cooked pasta

Steps:

  • 1. Combine ground beef, sausage, onion and garlic in a large frying pan; cook until meat is browned, stirring to crumble meat.
  • 2. Drain off grease. Pour meat mixture and remaining ingredients except for spaghetti into slow cooker.
  • 3. Cook over low heat for 3-4 hours.
  • 4. Serve over hot cooked pasta, any type.
