Creamy Tater Tot Hotdish image

This old favorite is even better comfort food with the extra-creamy sauce. I've developed it over the years by tweaking old recipes I'd found. Everyone loves it.

1 lb lean ground beef
1/3 cup minced onion
2 cups mixed vegetables (optional)
1 (32 ounce) package tater tots
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
2/3 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Brown and drain the beef with onion. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Place meat in sprayed 2 quart casserole.
  • Optional: top with vegies.
  • Pour tater tots over beef.
  • Mix together soup, sour cream, and milk.
  • Pour sauce mixture evenly over tater tots.
  • Top with shredded cheese.
  • Bake uncovered in 350 degree oven 45 minutes (if tots are thawed, 1 hour if not).
