Cranberry-Orange Sauce image

3 navel oranges, divided
1 pkg. (12 oz.) cranberries
1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Orange Flavor Gelatin
1/4 cup sugar
1 apple, chopped

Steps:

  • Grate zest from 1 orange; reserve for later use. Cut peels off 2 oranges, then cut oranges (between membranes) into sections while holding oranges over small bowl to reserve the juices. Cut orange sections in half. Juice the third orange over bowl. If necessary, add enough water to reserved juices to measure 3/4 cup. Pour into medium saucepan.
  • Add cranberries, dry gelatin mix, sugar and orange zest; stir. Bring to boil, stirring frequently; simmer on medium-low heat 5 min., stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in orange sections and apples. Cool 30 min.
  • Spoon cranberry mixture into serving bowl. Refrigerate 4 hours or until thickened. Stir before serving.
