Cran-Apple Pie image

An elderly widower gave me this recipe when it was a "hit" at his senior dinners. It has received raves and "may I have the recipe?" requests each time I take for holidays or just pie and coffee times.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3/4 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup(s) granulated, white sugar
1/3 cup(s) flour
1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
4 - 5 cup(s) pared, sliced tart apples
2 cup(s) fresh or frozen cranberries-whole or cut in half.
2 tablespoon(s) butter, cut into pieces
- 9 or 10 inch double crust pie.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425. In large bowl combine sugars, flour and cinnamon and mix well. Add fruit and mix to coat. Place in prepared pie plate. Dot with butter prior to adding top crust. Cut slits. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 475 for 10 minutes then reduce heat to 375 and bake til golden brown about an hour. Cool and enjoy plain or with ice cream and caramel sauce.
