Steps:
- Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk. Fold in egg whites, which have been beaten stiff. Pour into two greased and floured 9 inch pans. Bake 25 minutes at 350, or until done. ( I had to bake it for 35 minutes.) Mix frosting together and spread on cake.l
