Steps:
- CAKE Grease 2 9" round cake pans, line with parchment paper, grease paper. Chill a medium bowl and beaters. Mix milk and vanilla. In the chilled bowl, beat 1 cup heavy cream until it holds soft peaks. Beat 3 egg whites until peaked. Fold cream and whites together. Sift dry ingredients in fourths over cream mixture, folding only until blended after each addition, and alternating with milk mixture. Turn into pans, bake at 350' for 25-30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before turning onto racks. Remove pans and paper. FROSTING In a well chilled bowl, beat cream until thickened. Add dry ingredients in 2 or three additions. Beat until mixture holds stiff peaks.
