chia's rice & orzo image

this is what i make when we get tired of rice or pasta- just combine them. i served this with chicken breasts tonite

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 cup basmati rice
1 cup orzo pasta
3 1/2 cups chicken broth
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons Italian spices
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • in saute pan melt butter and olive oil on hi.
  • stir in onions, and saute until light brown.
  • stir in rice and orzo, coat, and stir until very light brown.
  • add broth and seasoning, heat to boiling.
  • cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
