This is my favorite oatmeal cookie recipe that I have used for forty years. I have included suggestions for some delicious variations, also. Bet you can't eat just one!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Combine first four ingredients and set aside.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer or a large mixing bowl, beat together remaining ingredients until creamy.
- Add the flour and oat mixture and mix well.
- Drop rounded teaspoonfuls onto a parchment lined cookie sheet or greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 to 14 minutes.
- Remove from cookie sheet and place on parchment paper or foil on flat surface to cool.
- As soon as cool, store in air-tight container.
- Recipe may be doubled.
- NOTE: Great add-ins include dried and chopped cherries or cranberries, chocolate chips, pecans or peanuts, raisins, butterscotch chips, chopped dried pineapple and coconut, white chocolate chips and chopped macadamia nuts.
