Candy Orange Slice Cookies image

Another one of my treasured recipes from my Mother. She loved making these cookies to give away at Christmas and some people (including me!) came back for more!

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 c vegetable shortening
1 c sugar
2 c light brown sugar
3 eggs
3 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
3 Tbsp water
1 can(s) coconut
3 c oatmeal, uncooked
1 1/2 c pecans, in pieces
25 orange slice candy, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream shortening and sugars together and add flour and baking powder. Dissolve the baking soda in the water and add to mixture.
  • 2. Fold in coconut, oatmeal, pecans and orange slice candies.
  • 3. Spoon out onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
