Cajun Hush Puppies image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cups flour
1 cups yellow cornmeal
1 units onion
1 units eggs
0.75 cups buttermilk
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoons seasoning salt
0.5 teaspoons black pepper
0.25 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 units oil

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare a deep fat fryer or a skillet.
  • 2. Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl; stir until batter is well mixed, and thick.
  • 3. Let the batter rest on the counter or in the fridge, for 30-40 minutes.
  • 4. Heat the oil to 375F in the skillet.
  • 5. Remove from the fridge; mix lightly with a spoon.
  • 6. With a tablespoon, drop batter into hot oil; fry until golden brown.
  • 7. Remove from the fat/oil, and drain the Hush Puppies on paper towels (use several layers of paper towels).
  • 8. Serve hot or warm-- delicious!
