Steps:
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Work in shortening as for pastry.
- Add currants.
- Moisten with milk, making a soft dough. Knead 10 seconds.
- Pat out on a greased cookie sheet, to a thickness of a 1/2 inch.
- Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 25 minutes.
- Serve warm with butter.
