BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE image

Crust:
1/2 c. margarine
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
Filling:
1 pkg.(8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Topping:
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. peeled, thinly sliced apples
1/4 c. slivered almonds

Steps:

  • Cream margarine, sugar, and vanilla.Blend in flour. Spread dough on bottom and sides of 9" spring-form pan. Combine cream cheese and sugar; mix well. Add egg and vanilla. Mix. Pour into pastry lined pan. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake 450 oven for 10 min. Reduce heat to 400, continue baking for 25 min. Cool before removing torte from pan.
