Banana Split Topping image

Mom used to make this with a box of frozen sliced strawberries but I prefer fresh. It is very versatile and can be used to top cake, ice cream, pudding, yogurt, in parfaits, etc.

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 ounce(s) can crushed pineapple in juice, drained (reserve juice)
2 tablespoon(s) reserved pineapple juice
2 cup(s) sliced fresh strawberries
2 tablespoon(s) sugar (if needed for berries or use equivalent artificial sweetener)
2 medium bananas, peeled and diced

Steps:

  • Drain pineapple, reserving 2 tablespoons juice.
  • Slice strawberries and add sugar or artificial sweetener if needed.
  • Combine berries, bananas, pineapple and juice and mix well.
  • Use as a topping over ice cream, pound cake, angel food cake, pudding, yogurt, in parfaits, etc. May also add a little chocolate sauce, whipped cream, nuts and a cherry for a full banana split experience.
