Banana Nut Bread image

I got this recipe from my BFF's sister. Not sure where she got it, but it makes some of the best banana bread I've ever had!

1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 c sour cream
2 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped pecans or walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • 2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 3. Stir in banana mash and sour cream.
  • 4. Combine flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
  • 5. Stir in nuts.
  • 6. Spoon batter into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes.
  • 7. Cool in pans for 5-10 minutes. Remove to wire wrack and cook completely.
