Baked Vidalia Onion Dip image

I make this every time I need to make a dish to pass for a gathering. I always bring the recipe with me because I always get requests for it.

Categories     Dips

Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 Tbsp butter
3 large vidalia onions, diced fine
2 c mayonnaise
1(8 oz) can(s) water chestnuts, diced fine
1/4 c white wine
1 clove garlic, minced
6 oz swiss cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Saute onions and garlic in butter until soft Mix remaining ingredients together, then add sauteed onions and garlic. Spray or lightly grease a glass baking dish. (this bakes better in glass) Bake at 375 for 30-40 min I serve it with little garlic toasts. Slice one baguette into thin toasts, brush with olive oil and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder and toast on a baking sheet under a low broiler. Keep a very close eye on this, they will burn fast!!
