Steps:
- Soak beans overnight in cold water. Heat oven to 250 Place cast iron Dutch oven over medium heat and stir in bacon. Remove some of the bacon grease. Add the onion and jalapenos and soften for about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, brown sugar and molasses. Drain the beans, retaining the soaking liquid. Add the drained beans to the Dutch oven. Add the soaking liquid and enough veggie broth to equal 4 cups. Bring liquid to a boil over high heat. Add in pepper, salt and cayenne. Give them a stir and cover with the lid. Place the Dutch oven in the oven for 6-8 hours,or until beans are tender. Note: check the beans periodically and add more liquid if beans are drying out.
