Bacon Swiss bread image

Hot and gooey, with all the flavor of bacon.From an old library book

Number Of Ingredients 6

one loaf french bread, 20 inches, 1 pound
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup chopped green onions
4 teaspoons prepared mustard
five slices process swiss cheese
five bacon strips

Steps:

  • 1. in a bowl, combine the butter, onions, and mustard. Spread on both sides of each slice of bread.
  • 2. Place Swiss cheese between the slices of bread. Cut bacon in half widthwise and then lengthwise; drape a piece over each slice.
  • 3. Place loaf on a double thickness of heavy duty foil. Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes or until bacon is crisp. Serves 10.
