AUNT CHARLIE'S RUM CAKE image

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 2/3 cup(s) sugar
2 cup(s) cake flour sift twice, then measure
1 tablespoon(s) rum extract
1/2 pound(s) butter
5 eggs
Glaze:
1/3 C water
1 C sugar
boil until dissolved
Add 1 T rum
Pour slowly over cake, allowing to soak in

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter & sugar until fluffy 2. Add 1/2 flour -- mix well 3. Add other half -- mix well 4. Add eggs, 1 @ a time -- mix well 5. Add rum 6. Pour into tube pan (if not coated, coat w/wax paper 7. Bake @ 325 degrees -- 45 min - 1 hr.
