Asian Essentials: East meets West Steak Sauce image

I call this an Asian steak sauce, because I believe that it works so well with beef, and gives the steak a hint of Asian flavor. I played about with the ingredients until I achieved a good balance between the sauce and the beef. So, you ready... Let's get into the kitchen.

PLAN/PURCHASE
1 Tbsp grapeseed oil, or other non-flavored oil
2 clove garlic, minced
1/2 c dry sherry
1/2 c filtered water
1/3 c tamari sauce, or liquid aminos
1/4 c coconut sugar
2 Tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp ginger powder
1 Tbsp sweet butter, unsalted
1 tsp sesame oil

Steps:

  • 1. PREP/PREPARE
  • 2. Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • 3. Add the ginger powder, sherry, tamari sauce, tomato paste, coconut sugar, and water, to a bowl, and whisk together.
  • 4. Add the oil to a saucepan, over medium heat.
  • 5. Add the garlic, and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds.
  • 6. Add the liquid ingredient, and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  • 7. Take off heat and whisk in the butter, and sesame oil.
  • 8. PLATE/PRESENT
  • 9. Use the sauce on a nice grill steak or other beef. Enjoy.
  • 10. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
