Apple Upside Down Cake image

Butter
Apples - enough sliced to cover bottom of 9x13 inch cake pan
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder

Steps:

  • Butter a 9x13 inch cake pan. Peel apples and slice in pan so you have about 2 inches all over the bottom of the pan. Sugar according to how sour or sweet your apples are. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Take remaining ingredients mix together in large bowl and pour over apples.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until brown on top. You don't have to worry about the batter covering the apples it will cover as it bakes.
