WE REALLY LOVE AMISH AND PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH FOOD. HERE IN DELAWARE WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO LANCASTER PA. AND MANY MANY GOOD RESTAURANTS UP THERE IN AMISH COUNTRY.

4 slice bacon
1/4 cabbage head, sliced
1 potato, sliced
1 carrot, sliced
2 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 c boiling water
1 tsp vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
4 Tbsp sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. FRY BACON. REMOVE AND DRAIN OFF HALF THE FAT. CRUMBLE BACON AND SET ASIDE
  • 2. PUT CABBAGE, CARROT AND POTATO IN SKILLET. STIR, THEN SPRINKLE WITH FLOUR, SALT AND PEPPER.
  • 3. ADD VINEGAR AND WATER. COOK SLOWLY FOR 50 MINUTES.
  • 4. PUT INTO SERVING DISH AND STIR IN CRUMBLED BACON AND SOUR CREAM
