Almond - Fudge Custard Pie image

This pie is so easy and delicious. I have one in the oven, son's request... Taste of Home recipe ( 2005 )

Number Of Ingredients 8

3/4 c sugar
1/3 c baking cocoa
1/8 tsp salt
3 eggs
1 1/2 c half-and-half cream
3/4 tsp almond extract ( i use vanilla extract )
1 pastry shell (9 inches), baked
whipped cream

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cocoa and salt. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, cream and extract just until combined. Stir into dry ingredients until blended. Carefully pour into pastry shell.
  • 2. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  • 3. Garnish with whipped cream and almonds. Store in the refrigerator.
