This recipe has remained a long-time favorite for picnics and family get-togethers. For those not watching their fat intake, add cheddar and Parmesan cheese. -Virginia Sander, North Hollywood, California

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 bacon strips, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (28 ounces) baked beans
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute bacon and onion over medium heat until bacon is crisp; drain. In a large bowl, combine the beans, brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and bacon mixture. , Pour into a shallow 2-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until heated through.

I used to and still will sometimes bake beans from scratch but this is so good I've been taking the easy way out!! I love cumin and look for any reason to use it!! Enjoy this great dish...again another one we do at BBG's , great on hot dogs too!!!

2 can(s) 28 oz each baked beans
2/3 c sweet bbq sauce or ketchup...i really diana bbq sauce
1 Tbsp dijon mustard
1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce
1 dash(es) ground cumin i tend to add a little more...1/4 tsp) but if you don' like cumin add chili powder
1 dash(es) black pepper
1 c thinly sliced onion
3 or 4 slices bacon

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350. Spoon beans into a 9x13 dish. Stir in bbq sauce, mustard, hot pepper sauce,cumin and pepper Scatter onion slices on top of beans and arrange bacon slices on top of onions. Bake until bubbly and the onion and bacon are cooked approx 55 mins to an hour..
