KIELBASA AND POTATOES RECIPE



Kielbasa and Potatoes Recipe image

This easy kielbasa and potatoes recipe is a classic comfort food your family is sure to love.

16 oz. kielbasa sauasage
1 1/4 pounds potatoes (5 medium sized)
1 Vidalia onion (, chopped)
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 clove garlic (minced)
1/3 tsp. Kosher salt
1/4 tsp. oregano ( or Italian seasoning)

Steps:

  • Preheat skillet on med-high heat.
  • Cut the kielbasa sausage into slices, and drop in the heated pan. Stir while frying.
  • As kielbasa is browning, chop the onion and potatoes.
  • Once the sausage has browned for approximately 6 minutes, scoop it out and put aside. Much of the fat will have rendered. Make sure to leave grease in the pan.
  • Dump the chopped potatoes into the hot skillet with the kielbasa grease. Add the paprika, salt and oregano. Stir to coat in the fat and reduce the burner to medium to medium-low. Cover.
  • Brown the potatoes for 13 minutes, stirring regularly.
  • Add the onions and garlic. Cook for about 12 minutes. Covered, but stirring regularly.
  • Once the potatoes have softened and onions are cooked add the kielbasa back into the pan mix in and all cook for 4 minutes.

1 pound red potatoes (3-4 medium), cut into 1-inch pieces
3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1-1/2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
3/4 pound smoked kielbasa or Polish sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices
4 cups fresh baby spinach
5 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

Steps:

  • Place potatoes and water in a microwave-safe dish. Microwave, covered, on high until potatoes are tender, 3-4 minutes; drain., Meanwhile, mix brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, thyme and pepper. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat; saute onion and kielbasa until onion is tender., Add potatoes; cook and stir until lightly browned, 3-5 minutes. Stir in brown sugar mixture; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in spinach until wilted. Stir in bacon.

1 small onion, sliced
1/4 cup each sliced green and sweet red pepper
2 small potatoes, sliced

  • In a large skillet, brown sausage in oil until a thermometer reads 160°. Add onion and peppers; saute until vegetables are tender. Add potatoes and 2 cups water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Drain; add salt and pepper.

4 potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
1 onion, chopped
2 green bell peppers, cut into 1 inch pieces
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 (16 ounce) package kielbasa sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook onions and potatoes for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce flame to med and stir in bell pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cover, and cook 5 minutes. Stir in kielbasa, cover, and cook for 15 minutes, or until onions are caramelized.

I came up with this recipe by combining what sounded good to me from other recipies. I was trying to come up with another way to use polish sausage. It is terrific. The beans can easily be left out if you prefer.

1 (14 ounce) package Polish sausage (I used turkey) or 1 (14 ounce) package kielbasa, sliced (I used turkey)
8 medium red potatoes, sliced
1 medium onion, diced
1/2 lb fresh green beans, broken into 1 . 5 inch pieces
1/4 cup unpacked brown sugar
1/2 cup applesauce
1 tablespoon mustard (I used bold and spicy)
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon cooking oil

Steps:

  • In a heavy fry pan with a lid heat oil on med/high and add onion, sausage and potato as you are doing your cutting.
  • Add the sugar, applesauce, mustard, vineger, thyme and pepper to your taste.
  • Stir and cover. Stir again about every 5 minutes until potatos are tender about 25 minutes.
  • Remove cover and cook and stir at 5 minute intervals until desired amount of browning occurs.

1 pound marble potatoes
1 yellow onion, sliced thin
1 orange bell pepper, sliced thin
1 green bell pepper, sliced thin

1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup amber beer
1 tablespoon grainy mustard
3 cups chopped kale
Fresh herbs, to garnish.

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the potatoes, onions and peppers, then season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until the onions are translucent and the potatoes begin to brown, 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Stir in the kielbasa and garlic. Add the beer and mustard, then stir to combine. Cover and cook until the potatoes have softened and the sausage is heated through, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and stir in the kale. Cook until the kale has wilted, 5 to 6 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed. Garnish with the herbs and serve straight from the skillet.

2 pounds Italian sausage links, cut into 2-inch pieces
¼ cup olive oil
4 large potatoes, peeled and thickly sliced
2 large green bell peppers, seeded and cut into wedges

3 large onions, cut into wedges
½ cup white wine
½ cup chicken stock
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Heat 2 teaspoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, and cook and stir the sausage until browned. Transfer the cooked sausage to a large baking dish.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of olive oil into the skillet, and cook the potatoes, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 10 minutes. Place the potatoes into the baking dish, leaving some oil in the skillet.
  • Cook and stir the green and red peppers and onions in the hot skillet until they are beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the vegetables to the baking dish.
  • Pour wine and chicken stock over the vegetables and sausage, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Gently stir the sausage, potatoes, and vegetables together.

1 pound kielbasa sausage

Steps:

  • Heat the butter in a large skillet with a lid over medium heat; cook and stir the onion and garlic until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
