A less-sweet monkey bread with peaches on top with dough made from scratch.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 ¼ cups whole-wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 ½ teaspoons white sugar
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
¼ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup butter
⅔ cup milk
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 ½ cups chopped walnuts
1 fresh peach, cut into cubes
⅔ cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch round pan.
  • Mix all-purpose flour, whole-wheat flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt together in a large bowl. Blend 1/3 cup vegetable oil and butter into the flour mixture until it looks like bread crumbs. Stir milk into the mixture to form a dough. Roll the dough into balls smaller than 1 inch in diameter and arrange into the prepared pan. Drizzle 1/3 cup vegetable oil over the dough.
  • Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the dough; top with peach cubes. Stir maple syrup and cinnamon together in a small bowl; drizzle evenly over the peaches and walnuts.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the edges of the dough is golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes.

1/3 cup(s) peach jam
1 can(s) canned buttermilk biscuits
1/4 cup(s) honey
1/2 cup(s) chopped walnuts
2 tablespoon(s) butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl combine the peach jam, honey, and nuts. Stir in melted butter and set aside.
  • cut each biscuit into quarters. Layer half of the pieces in a 9 inch pie tin. spread 1/2 of the peach jam over the biscuits. place the remaining biscuit pieces on top and spread with the rest of the jam.
  • Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 min until golden brown. Invert onto a serving plate. Just a note: You can use any type of jam you want to in this recipe.

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
4 tubes (6 ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, quartered
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup apple juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon rum extract
Toasted chopped pecans, optional

Steps:

  • Line a 5-qt. slow cooker with a piece of aluminum foil, letting ends extend up the sides. Grease foil., Combine the sugars, cinnamon and allspice in a large bowl; sprinkle 3 tablespoons sugar mixture in bottom of prepared slow cooker. Add biscuit pieces to bowl; toss to coat. Transfer coated biscuits to slow cooker; sprinkle any remaining sugar mixture over biscuits. , Stir together butter, apple juice and extracts; pour over biscuits. , Cook, covered, on low 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Remove lid and let stand for 10 minutes. Carefully invert onto serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with pecans.
