Time 20m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 pounds ground sirloin (80% meat, 20% fat)
Kosher salt
1 tablespoon canola oil
6 to 7 slices American cheese
1 small boule (bread loaf), sliced in half horizontally
3 leaves green-leaf lettuce
1 Roma tomato, sliced
8 dill pickle slices
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons mustard
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Steps:

  • For the burger: Find a bowl or pan that is just bigger than your bread and place on a piece of parchment paper. Trace around the bowl with a pen and flip the paper over. Use the paper as a guide to shape the sirloin into a patty. Sprinkle both sides of the patty with 1 teaspoon salt.
  • Place a cast-iron pan or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the oil and heat until shimmering.
  • Add the patty to the pan and press down firmly with a spatula. Cook until the edges are crispy and deeply golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Fan the cheese over the burger and place a metal bowl or baking sheet inverted over the patty. Cook until the cheese melts and gets crispy on the edges touching the pan, about 2 minutes more.
  • For the special sauce: Whisk together the ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard and black pepper in a small mixing bowl.
  • Spread the special sauce on the cut sides of the boule. Place the burger on the bottom half of the boule. Top with the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and a sprinkle of salt. Slice into quarters or sixths and serve.

IMPOSSIBLE™ BURGER PARTY ROLL-UPS

Impossible™ Burger Party Roll-Ups image

Allrecipes has made me an Impossible™ Burger fan. The fam too! These roll-ups are a tasty treat for game day or movie night. Start with a 1/2 package of onion soup mix and add more to taste. I like the flavor of the full packet, but I've been told I like my food salty. It may be too much for some. Serve with your favorite burger condiments.

Time 35m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 7

cooking spray
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 (12 ounce) package meatless vegetarian ground beef
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
¼ cup water
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 10-inch pie dish with cooking spray.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat; add meatless ground beef. Break up and cook through until browned and crumbly. Shake onion soup pouch, mixing up contents well. Using a spoon, scoop up half of the soup mix and incorporate into the pan. Add more to taste; discard remaining mix or reserve for another use. Stir in water.
  • Remove from heat and fold in Cheddar cheese. The cheese should not be entirely melted, just evenly distributed through the mixture.
  • Divide meatless mixture into 8 equal portions. Unroll crescent roll dough on a work surface, working on one at a time. Press dough with your fingers to flatten and slightly enlarge the space, making sure the widest area is facing you. Mound one portion of meatless beef mixture on the wide area and gently roll up to the tip. Tuck the edges of the roll up around the side of the bundle. Place in the pie plate. Repeat.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
