4 lbs pork spareribs
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 medium white onions, cut into 1/4 inch slices
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
2 cloves garlic
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup dry white wine
1 teaspoon shredded orange rind
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 -2 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 -2 tablespoon dried ancho chile, seeded and finely chopped

Steps:

  • Trim all fat from ribs and cut into individual riblets.
  • Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add ribs;cook 10 minutes or until browned on all sides, remove to a plate.
  • Keep 2 Tablespoon of drppings from skillet and remove the rest.
  • Add the onions, cinnamon, ground cloves (chilies).
  • Cook and stir for 4 minutes or until softened.
  • Put in the crock pot.
  • Process the tomatoes (not drained) and garlic in food processor, or blender until smooth.
  • Combine mixture with orange juice, wine, sugar, orange peel and salt and pour into crock;add ribs and stir to coat.
  • Cook on Low for 5 hours or until ribs are fork-tender;remove to plates.
  • *Ladeljuice out into bowl and let stand 5-minutes.
  • Skim and discard fat; stir in vinegar and either pour over ribs or use to dip.

4 tablespoons garlic powder
4 tablespoons onion powder
4 tablespoons chili powder
4 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
2 tablespoons dry mustard
3 tablespoons salt
4 large racks, 4 pounds or more, Kansas City cut spare ribs, hard bone removed
3 cups orange juice
1/2 cup honey
1 (12-ounce) can cranberry sauce
3 cups barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • A few hours before beginning the slow cooking of the ribs, make the dry rub by combining garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, dry mustard, and salt in a bowl and mixing well. Rub the seasoning mix into the meat and let sit for a few hours. The mixture will melt into the meat.
  • About 30 minutes before beginning to barbecue, heat the grill.
  • On the stovetop, combine orange juice, honey, and cranberry sauce in a saucepan, stirring to mix well. Simmer over low heat until it beings to thicken, then add barbecue sauce. Let simmer for 1/2 hour. Place ribs on the grill and slowly cook, turning occasionally. When meat begins to become fork tender, begin brushing on the sauce. Continue to apply the sauce to the ribs during the barbeque process. When ribs are able to pull apart, they are ready.

2 1/2 lbs boneless beef chuck beef short ribs, cut into 4 x 2 x 2 inch pieces
1 large orange
1 cup prepared thick baste and glaze teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup water
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons cornstarch, dissolved in
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
toasted slivered almonds (optional) or sesame seeds (optional)

Steps:

  • With vegetable peeler, remove three 2 x 1-inch strips of peel from orange; set aside.
  • Squeeze 1/2 cup juice from orange; cover and refrigerate.
  • In small bowl, combine orange peel, teriyaki sauce, water, garlic and pepper.
  • In crock pot, place beef short ribs.
  • Pour teriyaki mixture over short ribs.
  • Cover and cook on LOW 7-1/2 to 8-1/2 hours or until ribs are tender.
  • (No stirring is necessary.) Remove ribs from cooking liquid; keep warm.
  • To make glaze, strain cooking liquid; skim fat.
  • In small saucepan, combine 1 cup cooking liquid, reserved orange juice, cornstarch mixture and sesame oil.
  • Bring to a boil; cook and stir 1 minute until thickened.

A.1. Orange Barbeque Ribs image

A.1. and orange marmalade are the secret ingredients to these tasty ribs.

3 lb. pork baby back ribs
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. paprika
2 tsp. garlic powder
1-1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/2 cup water
2/3 cup orange marmalade
1/2 cup A.1. Original Sauce
1/4 cup GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard

Steps:

  • HEAT grill to medium heat. PLACE half the ribs in single layer on large sheet heavy-duty foil. Mix sugar and seasonings; rub half evenly onto both sides of ribs. Bring up foil sides. Double fold top and one end to seal packet. Add ΒΌ cup water to packet through open end. Double fold remaining end, leaving room for heat circulation inside. Repeat to make second packet. GRILL 45 min. to 1 hour or until ribs are done. Remove ribs from foil; discard foil. MIX remaining ingredients until blended. RETURN ribs to grill; brush with half the marmalade mixture. Grill 15 min., turning and brushing occasionally with remaining marmalade mixture.
