Steps:
- In a Medium skillet brown the ground beef and drain off the excess grease.
- Then add in in the onions, red pepper, and seasonings.
- When soft mix in the barbecue sauce, ketchup, water and salt and pepper.
- Cook on low uncovered for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
- Serve on the hamburger buns topped with the shredded cheese.

- In a large nonstick skillet, brown the onions a few minutes, then add beef and continue to brown untilt he meat is fully cooked; drain fat.
- Add salt to taste, pepper, and BBQ sauce, sitrring to coat, let simmer on fairly low heat about 5-10 minutes.
- Spoom hot meat mixture on top of bottom half of each bun, top with a slice of cheese and red bell pepper ring on each, then top with other half of bun.

- Brown meat in a saucepan over medium heat. After meat is almost cooked through, add onion and pepper and saute for 5 minutes, or until vegetables are soft. Add barbecue sauce and warm on stovetop until heated through. Season with salt and pepper, as desired.
- Serve on hamburger buns.

MY HUSBAND CALLS THIS BBQ (SLOPPY JOES)
This is from the yellowest, blotchy recipe card in the house, so you know it has been used a LOT! This is my Cincinnati husband's mother's recipe and they just called it BBQ. It is really Sloppy Joes, but what can you expect from people who eat Greek chili on spaghetti? Ha! Cincinnati chili is actually fabulous if you haven't tried it! Now here's the "BBQ" AKA Sloppy Joes!

- Brown beef in skillet.
- Drain grease.
- Combine remaining ingredients and pour over beef.
