This was in a recent issue of the kids page in the Sunday paper. It's so easy that even a child can do it and yet it is very good! You can vary the seasonings to your taste.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 slices bread, cut in 1/2 inch cubes (I used one whole hot dog bun)

Steps:

  • Put butter in a medium baking dish (I used a glass pie plate).
  • In a microwave oven, cook butter on high for about 25 seconds or until melted.
  • Stir in the parsley, paprika, garlic salt and pepper.
  • Then add the bread.
  • Stir until bread cubes are coated.
  • Microwave uncovered for 3 minutes; sitrring the cubes once every minute until bread is golden and crisp.
  • Sprinkle over a tossed salad.

Easy and quick, better if you use old bread, any kind.

4 c bread cubes
4 Tbsp olive or canola oil
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp parsley flakes

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients.
  • 2. Microwave in high 1 minute and mix.
  • 3. Microwave 1 minute and mix again.
  • 4. Microwave another minute or until the bread cubes are crunchy. Let them cool. Keep them in air tight container.

Wondering what to do with that old bread in your cupboard? Try making some croutons in the microwave and store them for later. All you need is some bread and butter.

6 cup(s) bread cubes
1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic or onion salt
1/2 cup(s) melted butter

Steps:

  • Place bread cubes in a large, low bowl Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cubes begin to dry
  • Sprinkle with flavored salt and toss with melted butter to coat evenly. Microwave on high for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring each minute, until crispy and dry Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Tip: Italian Croutons: Add 1 tablespoon Italian herb seasoning when salt and butter are added
