A romantic time with my husband in front of the fireplace with a little snack, or a real treat for your friends. This is so tasty! Note the cook time is refrigeration time over night.

1/2 cup dry white wine
1 cup peach schnapps
1/2 cup cranberry juice
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3 large winesap apples, unpeeled,sliced

Steps:

  • Mix wine, peach schnapps, cranberry juice, and lemon juice.
  • Slice apples and place in juices.
  • Refrigerate and marinate overnight.
  • To serve, drain and place in a small bowl.
  • Serve with crackers and an assortment of small cheese wedges.

1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cut into eighths
1/4 cup butter, cubed

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix the first 5 ingredients. Place apples in a greased 5-qt. slow cooker; add sugar mixture and toss to coat. Top with butter. Cook, covered, on low 3-4 hours or until apples are tender, stirring halfway through cooking.

1 pound medium apples, cored (2 apples)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
3 whole star anise
3 cardamom pods
2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 to 2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon whole peppercorns

Steps:

  • With a mandoline or vegetable peeler, cut apples into very thin slices. Place apples in a 1-quart jar. In a large saucepan, bring remaining ingredients to a boil. Carefully ladle hot liquid over apples. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
