3/4 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Southern Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits (8 Count)
1/2 cup shredded pepper Jack or Cheddar cheese (2 oz)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef, onion, garlic and bell pepper over medium-high heat until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and brown sugar.
  • Separate dough into 8 biscuits; place each biscuit in ungreased regular-size muffin cups (2 3/4x1 1/4 inches). Firmly press dough in bottom and up side of each cup, forming 1/4-inch rim. If desired, brush tops and sides of biscuits with an egg wash before baking. To make the egg wash, beat 1 egg yolk and 1/4 teaspoon water until well blended.
  • Spoon about 1/3 cup beef mixture into dough-lined cups. Sprinkle each biscuit with 1 tablespoon shredded cheese.
  • Bake 17 to 20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is melted.

1 lb ground beef
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can Manwich sloppy joe mix
1 (16 1/3 ounce) package Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits
Velveeta cheese (shredded)

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger meat and then drain grease from meat.
  • Start to preheat oven to what ever the biscuit instructions say.
  • Add the can of Manwich to the drained beef in pan and mix. Follow directions on can of Manwich as far as how long to cook, then turn off stove and let mixture start cooling down.
  • Next, take a muffin tin (reg size) and spray with non stick spray(Pam).
  • take the biscuits and flatten them out one by one in the palm of hand till it can cover the muffin tin hole, hold flatten biscuit over muffin tin hole and put a scoop of sloppy joe mix on it and let the edges of the biscuit go, it will start to fall down into the opening. You can add a little more to make it full.
  • Do this with each biscuit. Top with shredded cheese and bake per biscuit directions. Usually 10-12 minutes.(As it bakes the biscuit will puff up around the Manwich making individual Sloppy Joe Cups that you can eat with a fork, or with your hands.
  • Be careful though, because the inside is very hot.

This is a simple and easy recipe for making Sloppy Joes for 24 or more people. Yes, I know, what kind of good Sloppy Joe recipe uses Manwich®? In this case it's used as a base (like ketchup) to make a really tasty dish. I used the best ideas of several Sloppy Joe recipes on the Allrecipes website, added my own twist, and expanded it for a crowd.

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 pounds ground beef
1 ½ cups chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
salt and ground black pepper to taste
3 (26.5 ounce) cans Sloppy Joe sauce (such as Manwich®)
5 ribs celery, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
5 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1/3 of the beef, 1/2 cup onion, and 1 clove garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to a slow cooker. Repeat twice more with remaining oil, beef, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Add Sloppy Joe sauce, celery, green pepper, brown sugar, cider vinegar, and cloves to the slow cooker. Cook on Low for at least 4 hours, adjusting seasoning to taste.
