2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
⅔ cup water
1 egg white
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 egg whites, beaten
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, stir together, flour, sugar and salt. Add water, 1 egg white and melted butter; mix well to make a stiff dough. Knead until dough is smooth, about 5 minutes.
  • Divide dough into 10 balls. Roll each ball on lightly floured surface until paper thin. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until browned.

1 1/4 cups water
1/4 cup skim milk powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons shortening
3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoons yeast
1 cup sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Dough cycle. let rise 15 minute Divide in 4. Spread 1/4 cup sesame seeds on board.
  • Roll out dough as thin as possible, turning frequently to press the seeds into the dough. Bake at 375F for 13 to 18 minutes.

I found this recipe off of the internet to post for NA*ME tag. I'll be trying it out this weekend hopefully. I can imagine it would go wonderfully with cheese, soup, or as an appetizer with hummus or any other kind of dip.

5 cups all-purpose white flour
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/4 cup sesame seeds (optional)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl dissolve yeast in the warm water and then add sugar.
  • Next add the flour, the butter and salt. Knead the dough until it is very smooth. Cover and let stand in a warm place for 4 hours. Divide the dough into balls the size of two hands cupped together.
  • On a floured board, roll out the balls until they are the size of a 14" pizza pan. Place the dough in the pan and poke the dough in several places with a fork.
  • Sprinkle the tops with sesame seeds, pressing them in so that they don't fall off and bake on the bottom shelf of a 400 degree oven for 5 - 6.minutes. After the 5-6 minutes are up move the pan up to the middle shelf of the oven until lightly browned. Enjoy!

LAVOSH SMOKED CHEESE AND HAM PIZZAS

1 package lavosh flat breads, plain or flavored, sliced into 12 pieces
Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
1 pound smoked fresh mozzarella, sliced into 12 pieces*
1/4 pound prosciutto, cut in 1/2-inch strips
1 cup arugula leaves, a couple of handfuls, chopped
Freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Cover 2 cookie sheets with lavosh. Drizzle lavosh with little extra-virgin olive oil and turn over. Layer cheese on the lavosh. If you are substituting smoked white cheddar, scatter the shredded cheese in an even layer allowing a little of the lavosh to still peek through.
  • Place bread in oven to melt cheese, 5 minutes. Cut lavosh into squares and dot each square with small ham strips, draping them over the cheese. Scatter chopped greens over pizza squares. Drizzle pizza squares with extra-virgin olive oil and season with black pepper. Transfer to plate and serve.

This is the best recipe. I like it because you don't have to use yeast to get a wonderful flat bread cracker. I love this to use with dips and soups..Best to serve with clam chowder.Recipe from Oyster Bar Chef friend who makes the best Clam Chowder too! I have been trying to get this recipe for 12 years- I finally broke him...

4 c all purpose flour
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
1/4 c butter
1 large egg
1 c milk
garnish sesame or poppy seeds
2 Tbsp melted butter

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400^. Place flour,sugar and salt in a food processor. Pulse a few times to mix; then add butter and pulse to mix.
  • 2. Add egg and milk and process until a ball forrms. Remove the dough from the processor bowl and divide into 3 pieces. Chill slightly for about 10 minutes.
  • 3. Using one piece at a time ;roll out on a floured surface until very thin. Sprinkle with either of the seeds and press into the dough using the rolling pin. Carefully roll the dough onto rolling pin then unroll onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Brush with melted butter. Repeat with remaining dough.
  • 4. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until bubbles start to form. Reduce oven heat to 275^ and let the lavosh dry and turn golden, about 12-15 minutes.
