- In a large enameled cast-iron or other ovenproof skillet, brown the sausage in 1 tablespoon butter; remove and set aside. In the same pan, saute cabbage and onions in remaining butter until onions are tender. , In a small bowl, combine the tomato sauce, sugar and paprika; pour over cabbage mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the potatoes and reserved sausage. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

- Place potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl; cook in microwave until partially tender, about 8 minutes.
- Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a Dutch oven or large cast iron skillet over medium heat; cook and stir sausage and onions until browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer sausage and onions to a bowl.
- Heat remaining 2 tablespoons butter in the same Dutch oven; cook and stir cabbage until tender, about 5 minutes.

- In a large skillet cook the sausage slices until browned on both sides; remove to a plate.
- Heat the butter in the same skillet; add in onion, garlic, bell pepper and chili flakes, then saute over medium-low heat for about 4 minutes.

KIELBASA AND CABBAGE SKILLET
Steps:
- 1) Heat olive oil in a large nonstick sauté pan over medium-high and add kielbasa. Cook, without stirring for 1 minute. Then stir occasionally for about 3 minutes. Transfer to a plate with a slotted spoon. 2) In the same pan with some of the rendered kielbasa fat, add the cabbage, onion, garlic, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 3) Mix in the vinegar and mustard; add the sausage back to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes to heat through. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary. 4) Serve immediately on its own or over mashed potatoes.

I believe this came from TOH's Simple and Delicious. It's pretty quick and cleanup is easy too so it has become a regular weeknight meal for us. My husband sometimes eats it on toasted wheat bread.

I had to post this, I didn't want to lose this recipe, it looks so awesome I found this in Simple & Delicious. I had to add that I just made this last night and everyone loved it even my picky eaters ate it. This has such a nice flavor. What a great different way to have sausage. I used turkey sausage for less fat.
