FRENCH TOAST I
There are many, fancy variations on this basic recipe. This recipe works with many types of bread - white, whole wheat, cinnamon-raisin, Italian or French. Serve hot with butter or margarine and maple syrup.

Steps:
- Beat together egg, milk, salt, desired spices and vanilla.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides. Place in pan, and cook on both sides until golden. Serve hot.

SWEET FRENCH TOAST
A tasty treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth. Crumbled cornflakes make the texture a little different than most other recipes.

- In a medium bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon. Take a small handful of cornflakes and crumble them into the mixture. Stir well.
- Soak the bread slices in the mixture for about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Place the bread slices in the pan; brown on both sides. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar; serve hot.

- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Whisk milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and allspice together in a large bowl. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture to coat.
- Place coated bread into skillet and cook until golden brown on 1 side, about 1 minute. Flip and continue cooking until second side is golden, about 1 minute more. Remove to a plate and repeat with remaining bread slices.
- Sift confectioners' sugar over top of the French toast, slice diagonally, and serve.
