5 cups nonfat dry milk powder
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
11 cups water
Optional: Miniature marshmallows and peppermint candy sticks

Steps:

  • In a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker, combine the milk powder, sugar, cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon; gradually whisk in water until smooth. Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours, until heated through., If desired, top with marshmallows and use peppermint sticks for stirrers.

1 quart warm water
2 quarts boiling water
4 gallons hot milk

Steps:

  • In a large kettle, combine sugar, cocoa, salt and warm water; mix well. Add boiling water; boil for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in hot milk.

⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
⅓ cup boiling water
3 ½ cups milk
¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup half-and-half cream

Steps:

  • Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't scorch. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla. Divide between 4 mugs. Add the cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.
