Yield 1 loaf (16 slices) and 3/4 cup honey butter.

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1 cup half-and-half cream
3/4 cup refrigerated blue cheese salad dressing
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 tablespoon honey
2/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup bacon bits
HONEY BUTTER:
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a large bowl, whisk the first 5 ingredients. In another bowl, whisk cream, salad dressing, eggs and honey until blended. Add to flour mixture; stir just until moistened. Fold in walnuts and bacon bits. , Transfer to a greased and floured 9x5-in. loaf pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 40-50 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely., In a small bowl, beat honey butter ingredients. Serve with bread.

Honey-Walnut and Butter Scones image

This is a basic recipe for this classic Scottish (bet ya didn't know that) quick bread. For variations, add 1/2 cup shredded cheese and 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme or tarragon. TIP: Scones do not keep well. Either eat these the day they ate baked or wrap tightly and freeze.

2 c all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 Tbsp (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter, diced
2 Tbsp honey
2/3 c whole milk or half & half
1/2 c chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Set oven rack to middle position. Line a large baking shet with parchment paper.
  • 2. In food processor, pulse flour, sugar, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt until blended. Add butter pieces and process until mixture resembles coarse meal. Transfer mixture to a large bowl.
  • 3. Make a well in the center of mixture; whisk honey into milk and pour milk into well. Stir to form a soft dough. Add walnuts and stir briefly to blend. Turn dough onto a floured countertop. (NOTE: DOUGH WILL BE WET.)
  • 4. Using floured hands, press dough into a 1/2 inch round. Using a sharp knife, cut round into 8 wedges. Gently place wedges on prepared baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes, until scones are lightly browned around the edges. Transfer to wire rack to cool.

1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
Pinch salt
3 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons honey
Apple wedges

Steps:

  • Place walnuts and salt in a food processor. Cover and process until nuts are finely ground. , Add oil and honey; cover and process until mixture forms a smooth paste. Chill until serving. Serve with apple wedges.
