I love Sloppy Joes, but really don't like the taste of the canned products. This is what I came up with.

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 - onion, diced
1 - bell pepper, diced
1 teaspoon(s) minced garlic
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
1/2 cup(s) ketchup
1/2 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
2 tablespoon(s) steak sauce
3 tablespoon(s) barbecue sauce
3 dash(es) hot sauce
1 can(s) tomato sauce
1 can(s) diced tomatos
1 pound(s) ground beef

Steps:

  • Sautee onion and bell pepper until mostly done, add ground beef and cook until browned. (I go light on the meat... but I'm sure you can add what works for your family.)
  • Add all remaining ingredients, bring to slow boil, cover and slow cook for at least an hour. (I went 3 with mine.)
  • Serve on toasted hamburger buns... or however you prefer. (I served this with homemade Jojos (steak fries).
