1 1/3 c milk
1/4 c water
2 Tbsp honey (or whole, raw sugar)
4 tsp butter, melted
2 c whole grain wheat flour (fresh milled is best)
2 c unbleached all purpose wheat flour
1/8 c vital wheat gluten flour
1 tsp fine sea salt
1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

Steps:

  • 1. Add ingredients to bread machine according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • 2. If available, select the whole grain cycle, if not use the basic wheat or white cycle.
  • 3. If machine allows "extended rise", select 20 mins.
  • 4. Select bread color "medium".
  • 5. Press "start" and walk away! Enjoy your bread about 4 hours later (I set mine overnight, so we have a fresh loaf in the morning).

1/2 cup warm milk (70° to 80°)
1/2 cup water (70° to 80°)
1 egg
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
2 cups bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).
